    choreography Jacques Heim.

Director Corey Madden, composer Bruno Louchouarn, and choreographer Jacques Heim blend music, movement, and myth in this still-developing work of contemporary musical theater. This will be a “concert staging” of Surf Orpheus that re-envisions this ancient love story through the lens of Southern California’s surf culture, the sounds of contemporary music, and images of the beach, the sea, and our dreams.

Bruno Louchouarn’s original orchestral music and sound design contribute to the mystery hovering over the play’s first half-hour, during which we’re trying to fathom what world we’re in.

Bruno Louchouarn’s original music, a mixture of violin, guitar and percussion, adds a cinematic sweep to the show, and his sound design provides both aural setting and thematic cues for the characters, such as some softly jangling chimes representing James’ mental fragility.
